‘Elements inspired by nature’ was the mantra for the materials selection segment of the design process for this kitchen remodel. A natural walnut island paired with a soft green painted perimeter evokes a relaxing walk through the woods. The leaf mosaic backsplash adds to the experience. Quartz countertops that mimic calacatta marble compliment the finishes while offering durability. The wood hood gracefully blends into the scenery. Rustic wood floors ground everything beautifully.
Equally as important as the overall feel for the new space was added functionality. The clients had some clear dislikes for certain aspects of their original kitchen; dark and dated cabinetry, awkward microwave over the range, peninsula with seating that crowded the dining table, and lack of customized storage solutions for things like small appliances, trash and spices. The design solution that met all of our clients’ wish list items was to eliminate the peninsula allowing for a larger island with seating and giving space to the dining area. The sink moved to the island creating an improved work triangle with expansive counter space for prepping and clean-up. The range wall spread out now that the peninsula was gone. The refrigerator moved away from a doorway allowing for better access and flow. Accessories like a double trash pull out, appliance garage, spice racks, charging drawer for devices, under cabinet lighting, roll outs, tray dividers, base cabinet pull out, and utensil dividers make working in this kitchen a pleasure.
Natural beauty and maximized functionality provide everything necessary for blissful moments spent together with family and friends in this lovely kitchen.
