Our clients desired a more functional and expansive cooking area, which led to the relocation of the mudroom opening and the addition of a custom archway. This allowed us to maximize the cooking wall, providing enough space for a 48″ rangetop and a 36″ refrigerator. A bulky drywall pantry was removed and replaced with a tall, efficient cabinet outfitted with ample roll-out trays for organized pantry storage. To enhance functionality around the cooking surface, a pull-out tray cabinet and a pull-out utensil cabinet were added on either side, creating a highly efficient cooking zone.
Natural quartzite was selected for both the countertops and backsplashes, offering durability and elegance. An integrated wood seating area was incorporated for warmth and visual contrast. The island, previously bi-level and inefficient, was reimagined with a single-level design featuring thicker countertops and added seating, making it a true centerpiece of the kitchen. A buffet area was created behind doors to neatly house a toaster and coffee maker, while a new bar area adjacent to the kitchen includes refrigerator drawers and open wall cabinetry.
Several upgrades were made to improve the kitchen’s functionality and ambiance. A new steam oven and two dishwashers were installed to support the clients’ cooking and entertaining needs. The old, undersized window above the sink was replaced with a much larger triple window, flooding the space with natural light. Inset cabinetry was chosen to emulate the look of traditional furniture, providing a timeless, elegant feel. These thoughtful changes transformed the kitchen from a dark and cluttered space into a bright, highly functional, and inviting environment.
