When we began work on this remodel, it started as orange-colored, oak kitchen with an awkward flow that did not work for the family. We designed a new U-shaped layout that kept everything needed for preparing daily meals within arm’s reach. A central island, brightly illuminated by glass pendants, now serves as a landing space and buffet for family gatherings. Undercabinet lighting highlights the gorgeous backsplash and Bianco Rafaele marble counter tops. We extended one of the kitchen walls at the end of the sink run to enable us to create a small office nook, perfect for typing a quick email or looking up a recipe. An adjacent bar area allows guests to concoct their own drinks, away from the food prep. Making better use of the space, we were able to improve the function and flow of this kitchen while enhancing its overall appearance greatly.
