Wonder On Woodfield

Our clients’ home served them and their children very well over the years. With the kids out of the house, they gave some thought to moving. After a bit of searching for a new home, the couple came to realize they really loved their family home. It just needed some updating.

The principal bath got top priority due to a minor mold issue. The space was outdated, with, typical for the time of the home build, a much too small shower.

We were able to steal some space from an adjacent attic area to enlarge the bathroom just enough to accommodate a large shower. The built-in tub was swapped for a lovely freestanding one. The linen closet was replaced with a pretty armoire to complement the new vanity. A gorgeous herringbone limestone floor, polished nickel and white finishes create an understated while luxurious feel to the new bathroom.

Then came the kitchen – the precious place where they would gather for years to come as their family would grow. They longed for a larger space as they love to entertain good sized groups of friends and family. Their vision included a light and airy space with a large island with seating, a generous desk, a bar area, and more storage for small appliances. They were willing to remove the wall between the dining room and the kitchen for expansion. The arched window over the sink could go and we were given permission to add windows and doors as we saw fit to enhance the design. So, you guessed it, we took down the wall, reframed for a new window over the sink, and swapped the bay window for two large double hung windows. High windows were added on the side of the house to bring in light while maintaining privacy and adding architectural interest. From the start, our clients knew they would be happiest with a mostly crisp white palette and a contrasting navy painted island. Classic Carrara marble tops and backsplash, along with beautiful woodwork and polished nickel finishes compliment the stunning cabinetry. Timeless in every way, this kitchen is sure to please on quiet days as well as times of celebratory gatherings with lots of loved ones.
